After The Detox Phase: What to Eat Next
You should have now completed the Detox Phase and be ready for step two the Maintenance Plan.
One of the challenges is finding out what body type you have. Once you discover what works foods work best for you, you’ll want to maintain those foods.
All four body types need the same key basic healing foods. However, the amount of protein and fat will vary. Because different body types (Adrenal, Ovary, Thyroid and Liver) need different amounts of protein, you will add more protein based on how your body responds to the initial phase. This change (additional protein) will be done gradually until you find the right amount. If your body responds better to high vegetable, low-protein foods (Liver or Liver & Thyroid types), don’t change anything. If your weakness is within the adrenals or ovaries, you will need more protein in the diet. And with protein comes more fat, since they are usually together as foods.
The strategy is to find out what gives you the best overall improvement. However, since weight loss is just one indicator of improvement, we will look at all six additional factors.
The way you will judge or know when to start adding more protein will be by feedback from ALL seven of these body changes:
1. Energy level
2. Sleep quality
3. Amount of sleep
5. Overall digestion
6. Inches lost
7. Weight lost
To find the correct amount of protein you need, you will be adjusting your eating to find out what diet will give you the maximum energy, best quality sleep, the least cravings, and the best overall digestion. These things tell you if the program is working. If these factors are high, the weight comes off as a result:
While on the Detox Phase, for all four body types, do a diet of high vegetable, no animal protein and low fat . After the Detox Phase, for Liver and Thyroid Body Types, introduce a diet of high vegetable, low protein and low fat. For the Adrenal & Ovary Body Types, introduce a diet of high vegetable, higher protein and moderate fat.
You will only move on and add more protein if you have low energy, poor sleep, cravings, poor digestion and no inch or weight loss. Low energy includes moodiness, irritability, lethargy or depression. However, if you are having positive changes with the Detox Phase (high vegetable, no animal protein and low fat), you will continue what worked. I have found the majority of people get the best results with very little protein. A smaller percentage will lose more weight on higher amounts of protein and fat, or somewhere in between.
Remember your goal is to GET HEALTHY so that your body can burn fat. Getting healthy requires an initial healing phase, which might not show up at first in weight loss, but will show up as improvement in these other factors energy, sleep, cravings, digestion, and inches lost. Depending on what’s happening with your body, you may need more or less protein for this phase.
