So-Called “Natural” Foods

Simply because a food product says natural on the label, this does not always mean what is implied. There are five things in foods that you should be aware of
Simply because a food product says natural on the label does not always mean what is implied. There are five things in foods that you should be aware of:
1. Pesticides, insecticides and other chemical sprays: Back in the 1930s we started using chemicals to decrease a 20 percent loss of crops. Presently, with the addition of thousands of new chemicals, we still have a 20 percent loss of crops.
2. Growth hormones: Farmers use growth hormones for one thing to make animals grow faster and bigger.
3. Antibiotics: Farmers also use antibiotics to make their animals grow larger, but they are used as well to prevent infection and disease. I believe this is the reason for new strains of nearly impossible to kill microbes.
4. Animal feed containing restaurant grease and animal waste: Animal waste is recycled into animal feeds and hidden as protein isolates. The FDA allows each state to regulate how animal waste is processed and recycled back into animal feeds. It is apparently too expensive and toxic for landfills. Restaurant grease is also recycled into animal feeds. Because the waste grease from fast-food restaurants is a health hazard, these establishments are not allowed to drain their used oils and grease through the sewage system. Their cost-effective solution has been to recycle these oils (including harmful hydrogenated oil) and place them back into animal feeds. Animal offal (meaning waste parts from a butchered animal, garbage or rubbish) is also recycled into feeds, which includes blood, guts and feathers.
5. Addictive chemicals added to foods: Many food producers put addictive chemicals in their products as a means of controlling the consumer into continuing to buy and eat their foods. Mono-sodium glutamate (flavor enhancer) is one of them. MSG doesn’t alter the way food tastes; it increases and enhances the sensitivity of taste buds, acting like a drug to excite them. MSG tricks your brain into thinking the food tastes good. It also inhibits the sensation of being satisfied, so you continue to eat. Because of the sodium in mono-SODIUM glutamate, water is retained. Cutting out foods contaminated with antibiotics, pesticides, growth hormones and other chemicals introduced into our mainstream food supply is essential to your weight loss success as well as to your health. Therefore it is imperative to consume a good portion of organically grown foods. Organic foods are fertilized and grown without the use of toxic chemicals of any kind. It is not always practical to consume 100 percent organic all the time, but if you can eat 50 percent organic, you’ll be doing well.
